Everyone has a unique life and mine happens to involve macrobiotics. I have spent my entire working life involved in macrobiotic endeavors ranging from food businesses, restaurants, bookstores, educational organizations and teaching and counseling. I owe this unique life path to my parents, Michio and Aveline Kushi, whose mission in life has been to create one peaceful world based on a macrobiotic foundation of healthy, happy and peaceful people eating and living in harmony with their environment.

Very interesting topic, thanks for posting!
I first met your parents in Cambridge, Ma. in 1970 and their teachings and way of life will forever have an impact on my life. I was in the presence of greatness being around them.
Phiya, greetings from Tom Whitesell. I grew up with John Mann, and lived in his study house in Brookline 1980 – 1982, good friend of Charles Hugus and your precious sister Lily. I attended a couple of series of your father’s talks at the Institute in this period, having lived at Erewhon Farms for the duratioin of it’s existence in the early 1970’s. Your father’s influence has colored my entire life, and that of my entire family.
All of this said, I have begun reading this most splendid book, ‘Remembering Michio’. I am suddenly ALL attention when I find Carlos Aponte referring to many hundreds of videos and thousands of audio recordings of Michio speaking, giving talks, explaining to his classes and audiences his way of understanding and living in this world. I utterly agree with Carlos that this is immensely valuable, and at the same time, vulnerable material which could benefit the whole world, for generations, and needs to be rescued from oblivion. It would be spectacular if it could be made available streaming on the internet.
Who could set into motion such a project? Who would fund it, and who pursue the effort to accomplish this noble endeavor? I am sure there is money to fund this, from among the enormous number of beneficiaries of your father’s teachings. There may be a few independent youngish folks who would at least make a start, have the fairly basic technical know-how needed. and see the value to putting in some quality time. Digital file storage can be simply a matter of sufficiently large hard drive space, at a nominal cost. My goodness.
Thank you for your tireless work in keeping your Dad’s life’s work and his spirit visible to the world. Take care. Happy New Year Phiya!
