Why I decided to seek funding from you, my blog readers:
I was thinking of various ways that I could financially support my writing. I thought of getting sponsorship and selling advertisements. But in the end, I realized that I would be at the mercy of whoever was paying me. It would mean that my voice would have to be limited and censored so as not to offend my sponsors. I did not like that idea. I believe in free speech and I like to be able to write whatever I please, even and sometimes to my own embarrassment.
I also thought of offering subscriptions but I didn’t like that idea either. I prefer to keep my blog open, free and accessible to everyone without any restrictions or requirements.
The only way that I could see resolving this situation and address my mounting stack of bills is to ask you, the readers, for your help. With your help I can pay my bills and continue to write in blog as I have been doing. I can’t promise you that you will like everything I write, but I can promise that I will continue to devote time to writing.
