The Untold Secret Truth About Macrobiotics
Yes, it’s true: there is an untold secret truth about macrobiotics. It is something that most aren’t aware of, even by many who follow it and it has nothing to do with the food (at least not directly). Here it is: The secret is personal biological FREEDOM. It is the freedom to manage one’s own health. (Okay, maybe you knew that before but forgot since macrobiotics seems to be only about food – and certain specific and limiting foods at that!)
Generally speaking, people I know whom have continued to practice macrobiotics successfully for a long time have found that they no longer have had the need to visit a doctor or hospital or take any medications whatsoever. I was recently speaking with a friend of mine who remarked that he has not had the need to see a doctor for the past 20 years, ever since he began practicing macrobiotics. He is one of many persons I know whom have shared the same experience. I, myself, in all the 50 years of my life, have also not had the need to see a doctor, visit a hospital, or take any medications.
However, to be clear, (and this is important,) it certainly does not apply to everyone I know and this is not a guarantee that this will happen to you if you begin macrobiotics . I have also family and friends who have died from illness. Everyone is different and we each must follow our own path, be it alone or with the help of others, like the medical establishment, in order to survive, stay healthy and prosper.
Also, this is not meant to be a negative statement towards doctors, hospitals and medications either. Some of my friends and acquaintances are among the leading doctors and health care professionals in the world (see: http://wp.me/prJfE-t) and if I ever find myself needing their services then I would not hesitate to seek them out. To put it more bluntly, if you are sick then definitely seek medical help and, if needed, hospitalization and please don’t hesitate to do so. It may save your life in the short term.
But in the long run, if you want to learn how to manage your own health through food then I do suggest you study and practice macrobiotics. It really isn’t about avoiding meat or not eating raw foods are even limiting or expanding what you can or cannot eat. The truth is, you can eat anything! If you become good at it, then you may be able to master your own health and achieve your own personal biological freedom.
So, to summarize, if you set aside the matter of the diet, the cooking and all the other food-related things normally associated with macrobiotics and then if you were to ask me what macrobiotics has given me (and many of my friends) then it is this; it is the freedom that I have with regards to my own health. In the end, macrobiotics is not a diet of specific foods. It is not about eating a plant-based diet. It is not really about being kind to animals nor is it about avoiding factory-farmed foods. It is also not really about organic foods, avoiding GMOs or even eating in harmony with your environment. What it is about is gaining your own personal biological freedom and mastering your own destiny. That’s it.
